WHAT IS DISCIPLESHIP?
Growing as a Follower of Jesus Christ
Salvation is the beginning of the Christian life. Discipleship is how a believer learns to walk faithfully with Christ.
A disciple learns the Scriptures, develops a life of prayer, obeys the Lord, becomes involved in the local church, grows in Christian character, and learns to share the Gospel with others.
Discipleship is not merely completing a course. It is a life increasingly shaped by Jesus Christ and His Word.

Strong Christian growth begins with simple biblical habits practiced consistently over time.

Prayer
Develop a consistent prayer life marked by praise, confession, thanksgiving, intercession, and dependence on God.
The Local Church

Obedience

WHY DISCIPLESHIP MATTERS
Growth Requires More Than Good Intentions
New and growing believers need biblical instruction, encouragement, accountability, and practical guidance.
Discipleship helps believers understand what the Bible teaches, how to apply it, how to recognize error, how to build godly habits, and how to remain faithful through difficulty.
Mature believers also need continued growth. No Christian reaches a point where there is nothing more to learn or no further area in which to become more like Christ.

HOW DISCIPLESHIP WORKS
Learn Alongside Another Believer
Biblical discipleship is relational. It is more than handing someone a book and telling them to study alone.
A more experienced believer can walk through Scripture with you, answer questions, pray with you, encourage you, and help you apply biblical truth to everyday life.
Depending on the need, discipleship may take place one-on-one, in a small group, through Sunday School, or through another structured church setting.

The pattern of the New Testament is not simply learn, learn, learn. It is receive truth, live truth, and pass truth on faithfully.
