NEW BELIEVERS
Your New Life
in Christ
Salvation is the beginning of a new life with Jesus Christ. You do not have to know everything at once. Start with simple, biblical steps and grow one day at a time.
YOU HAVE BEGUN A NEW JOURNEY
What Comes After Salvation?
If you have trusted Jesus Christ as your Saviour, you have begun a new life in Him.
Growth does not happen all at once. New believers need the Word of God, prayer, fellowship, biblical teaching, obedience, and encouragement from other Christians.
The goal is not to become religious. The goal is to know Christ better, walk with Him faithfully, and allow His Word to shape your life.
A NEW CREATURE
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
2 Corinthians 5:17 — KJV
YOUR FIRST STEPS
Start Here
These simple steps will help establish a strong biblical foundation in your new life with Christ.
Know You Are Saved
Rest in the promises of God's Word rather than your changing feelings.
Be Baptized
Follow the Lord in believer's baptism as your first public step of obedience.
Read the Bible
Learn God's Word consistently and allow Scripture to guide your thinking and living.
Pray Daily
Speak with God honestly, thank Him, ask for help, confess sin, and seek His will.
ASSURANCE OF SALVATION
Build Your Confidence on God's Word
New believers often struggle with doubts. Your assurance should rest in what God has promised, not in whether you feel spiritual every day.
“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life...”
When doubts come, return to the Gospel, remember the promise of God, and continue trusting Jesus Christ.
BELIEVER'S BAPTISM
Take Your First Public Step of Obedience
Baptism does not save you. It is an act of obedience after salvation.
Biblical baptism is the immersion of a believer in water, picturing the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
If you have trusted Christ and have not yet been scripturally baptized, we would be glad to talk with you about taking that step.

“As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:”
1 Peter 2:2 — KJV
READ YOUR BIBLE
Let God's Word Shape Your Life
You do not need to read large amounts at first. Begin consistently and seek to understand what God is saying.
Start with John
The Gospel of John is an excellent place for a new believer to learn more about Jesus Christ.
Read Every Day
Consistency matters more than quantity. Even a small portion read carefully can help you grow.
Ask Questions
Ask what the passage teaches about God, sin, obedience, promises, and Christian living.
Obey What You Learn
The goal of Bible reading is not merely information, but a life increasingly submitted to God's Word.
A SIMPLE PRAYER PATTERN
Praise God for who He is.
Thank Him for what He has done.
Confess sin honestly.
Ask for help and wisdom.
Pray for others and their needs.
LEARN TO PRAY
Talk with God Every Day
Prayer is not about impressive words. It is simply speaking honestly with God.
Thank Him for salvation. Ask for wisdom. Confess sin. Pray for your family, your church, other believers, and people who need Christ.
As you grow in Scripture, your prayer life will also grow.
GROW WITH A LOCAL CHURCH
Do Not Try to Grow Alone
God designed believers to grow together as part of a local church.
Faithful church attendance gives you preaching, teaching, fellowship, encouragement, accountability, opportunities to serve, and relationships with mature believers.
If Rockwall Baptist Church is where God would have you grow, we would be glad to walk with you in your new life in Christ.
Learn About MembershipDISCIPLESHIP
Learn the Foundations of the Christian Life
New believers benefit greatly from someone walking beside them and helping them understand the basics of Scripture.
Discipleship can help you learn about assurance, prayer, Bible study, baptism, the local church, Christian living, witnessing, and other foundational truths.
You do not need to figure everything out by yourself. We would be glad to help you grow.
Begin DiscipleshipTELL SOMEONE
Share What Christ Has Done for You
You do not need to be a Bible expert before you can tell someone else how Jesus Christ saved you.
Tell Your Story
Explain simply what you believed before, how you heard the Gospel, and how you trusted Christ.
Share Scripture
Learn simple Gospel verses and let the Word of God speak clearly.
Invite Someone
Invite family and friends to church where they can hear the Gospel preached.
WHEN YOU STUMBLE
Keep Walking with Christ
Becoming a Christian does not mean you will never struggle or fail.
When you sin, confess it to God, receive the cleansing He promises, learn from your failure, and continue walking with Him.
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Growth is not perfection. It is a continuing life of faith, repentance, obedience, and dependence upon the Lord.
REMEMBER
Do Not Quit
When you fall, get back up. Return to the Word. Pray. Seek help. Keep following Christ.
